Holiday Party Ideas

It’s that time of year again! The time of year where we socialize with loved ones, reflect on what we are thankful for, eat too much, and maybe have a little gift exchange. If you’re planning on getting together with friends or family during the holiday season why not try a themed party? Here are some of my favorite holiday party ideas!

"Favorite Things" Party: This is a great party idea if you want to learn more about your friends and leave with a gift. All your guests bring one to three of their favorite items to the party to exchange. These favorite items could range from their favorite pen to a facemask they like! The items can be wrapped separately or unwrapped for the exchange. Each guest would put their name on a piece or pieces of paper depending on how many items were brought to the party (one paper for each item). The host then draws a name and your guest gets to pick an item from their friend’s favorites. So not only do you get to learn what your friends are loving you get to leave with fun gifts!

Regift Party: This is a fun twist on a white elephant party but is a little better on your wallet. The rules are similar to a white elephant gift exchange and there are many variations so you can't go wrong. All your guests bring a wrapped REGIFTED item instead of a new item. This could be anything you have that you no longer want (clothing, kitchen supplies, home decor, etc). Each guest pulls a random number from a bowl and the person with the number 1 gets to choose a wrapped regift, then it moves on sequentially. All gifts are opened in front of everyone. Each person has the option to either steal a gift from another guest or choose a wrapped regift. If a regift has been stolen 3 times it is out of play and cannot be stolen again. Once everyone has had a turn person #1 has the option to steal a regift. The game is over when everyone has a gift. A friend of mine does this every year and it is so fun!

Dipmas:  Dipmas is simply a Christmas party focussed on yummy dips to eat! Every guest brings their favorite dip to share. Can you imagine how delicious that party would be?! I found my favorite dip from a tiktok video (shocker, I know). This dip is like a caprese salad but in a dip!

Here is the recipe:

2 - Boursin garlic and fine herb cheeses

3- Roma Tomatoes

Basil leaves

Olive oil

Balsamic glaze

Salt/Pepper

In a shallow dish spread both boursin cheese wheels evenly into the bottom. Dice and seed all the tomatoes in a bowl. Finely chop up a couple basil leaves. In the tomato bowl mix olive oil, salt pepper, chopped basil, and a small amount of the balsamic glaze. Evenly disperse the tomato mixture on top of the cheese. Top with your desired amount of balsamic glaze. I really liked the dip with pita crackers from Trader Joes, but any cracker will do.

Dress Up Party: This is a classic party theme that is always a hit! There are so many different dress up themes you can choose from over the holidays. Here are some of my favorites.

  • Christmas Pajamas: Perfect for an all age event or even a party with your girlfriends.

  • Ugly Christmas sweater: Ugliest Christmas sweater wins a prize. This is a fun festive idea for a work party.

  • Favorite christmas character: All your guests come dressed as their favorite christmas character from a book or movie!

  • Dressy: This is also good for a work Holiday Party or an adults only party. All your guests come dressed in their finest!

Whether you’re keeping your celebrations small or going big, a themed party is always fun! Happy Holidays!
